This course is designed to provide students a foundation in the basic principles of management. At the end of the class a student will be able to

1. Comprehend the theory and principles of sport management.

2. Comprehend the management process in practice in the context of physical education and athletic programs.

3. Analysis the unique problems associated with physical education and athletic departments in Turkey.

CLASS PROJECT

1. Pick one of the following departments or organizations:

2. Write the mission and basic duties of the organization.

3. Determine the objectives of the organization.

4. Draw the organizational chart of the organization and indicate job description of each member.

5. Indicate what kind of services is offered by the organization.

6. Interview one person from the top management and an employee in the organization. Determine what are the major problems, strengths and weaknesses of the organization.

7. Make a recommendation(s) on how to improve management of the organization.

8. Prepare a 5-7-page paper for the class. Make a presentation based on the paper.
