The course introduces all major types and formats of instructional media including audio, visual, audio-visual, and computers and so on. The course also provides the necessary background and skills in selection, development and assessment of all types of instructional media. |
CEIT 319: Instructional Technology & Material Development
Basic concepts and principles of teaching and learning. The importance and benefits of instructional planning. Planning instruction (yearly plan based on units, daily plan and examples of activities). Teaching and learning strategies. Instructional methods and techniques and their relation to practice. Instructional tools and materials. Teacher’s duties and responsibilities in improving the quality of instruction. Teacher’s qualifications. |
CEIT 421: Research Methods
This introductory course provides a general framework for prospective teacher about practices of research in education. Learning activities including readings, classroom discussions and other assignments will be related to steps in all social science research (Problem Definition – Literature Review – Research Method – Reporting). The main focus of this course is classroom research in action. |

This course provides teachers, trainers and leaders of educational institutions with applications of instructional technology to restructure their learning environments with technologies for learning. The course uses problem-based self-directed learning and site-practices to enhance students’ analytical planning skills and to assist them in applying these skills to IT planning process. |
CEIT 620: Research Seminar in Instructional Technology This course aims to provide necessary research skills and a review of current trends of research in Instructional Technology as applied to the development of doctoral dissertation proposals. This course is offered for Ph.D. students who are in the process of developing a research proposal for their dissertations. The course involves an advance review of current literature and research trends in the field of Instructional Technology. |
CEIT 672 Practices in Learning Systems Design The course has a case-based approach to learning instructional design (ID) skills. Students in CEIT 672 course engage in authentic design activities via participation in a community of practice, simulating an ID apprenticeship shop. ID apprentices benefit by co-analyzing instructional design problems, having access to a wide range of ideas and perspectives, working with diverse teams and individuals, creating real instructional design products or cases, and giving and receiving constructive feedback. |
IS 720: Research Methods in Information Systems This course provides students with an integrated framework for research in Information Systems. Course underlines main research paradigms including positivist, post-positivist, critical theory and constructivist paradigm. Theoretical and practical bases are provided for leading research models under the main themes as quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods and design based research. The course uses problem-based self-directed learning to enhance students’ methodological skills and to assist them in applying these skills to the research process. |
