Ahmed Hareedy

Director of REINS Group

Research Hiring Policies

  • If you are an international graduate or prospective graduate student, please only email me if you are interested in a Ph.D. position.

  • At the moment, I am not hiring new REINS members (my apologies).

  • If you are interested in working with me, you should be interested in learning and exploring the role of applied mathematics in electrical and computer engineering.

  • Fundamentally, coding theory has absolutely nothing to do with software coding. We only use software programming as a tool.

  • If you are an undergraduate student who is interested in working with me, please note that I hire undergraduate researchers typically after Semester 4 or during Semester 6. I am more interested in long-term contributors who will stay in REINS group at least two years. Students who plan on continuing graduate studies at METU with me have the priority.

I am always excited about welcoming new members to my research group family. I wish all of you the best of luck.

Recommendation Letter Policies

Every year, many students ask me for recommendation letters. Since I spend considerable time to complete each letter, I cannot write one for every student who asks. Regarding letters for universities abroad, students are classified into four sets:

  • Students who are in my research group.

  • Students who are not in the above set, but who get AA in my graduate course (EE534: Coding Theory).

  • Students who are in none of the above two sets, but who get AA in one or more of my undergraduate courses.

  • Students who are in none of the above three sets.

The likelihood that I will be able to write a recommendation letter for you increases as you go up the list of sets (from first to last: certain, highly likely, likely, unlikely). METU letters are notably easier to handle, and you can always ask for a letter if you are applying to METU graduate program.

If I accept to write a recommendation letter for you, be sure that I will do my best to help you. I wish all of you the best of luck.
