Course Description: The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge of physical education in ancient societies, about the Middle Ages, and Modern Europe and Turkey; ancient, medieval and modern philosophies; an analysis of the research literature related to historical foundations of physical education and sports.

General Objectives: At the completion of the course the student will be able to:

a) Discuss and understand basic concepts and philosophies of physical education and sports.

b) Review, explore and discuss history of physical education and sports in different societies.

c) Analysis changes occurred in physical education and sports by the time.

Requirements & Evaluation:

a) Presentation = 40 points

b) Take home exam = 20 points

c) Final exam = 30 points

d) Participation = 10 points
