ARCH332-Structural Design in Architecture II     BS536-Studies on Tall Buildings:Design Considerations

PROJECTS

EXHIBITION

The analysis of structural behavior and design concepts of basic structural systems. Fudamental principles of sStructural elements and corresponding building code requirements are studied. Principles to structural safety via architectural design are introduced

PROJECTS

EXHIBITION

Definition, emergence and history of tall buildings. Planning and design considerations. Structural systems used in architectural design of tall buildings; shear trussed frame and shear walled frame, mega frame, mega core, outriggered and tube (framed-tube, trussed-tube, bundled-tube) systems. Aerodynamic modifications against wind.

ARCH331-Structural Design in Architecture I BS533-Building Design Form and Structure
The introductory theory and behavior of reinforced concrete and steel structures. Basic knowledge about the preliminary design of beams and columns. Reinforced concrete slab systems.

PROJECTS

Studies on structural systems together with the architectural form for earthquake safe building design. Risk and performance measures of structural systems, characteristics of Turkish residential buildings, and case studies on contemporary design approaches to architectural engineering.
