  • MCSM Lab contributed 11 papers to the 25th European Conference on Fracture (ECF25), held in Athens, Greece, from 6 to 11 September 2026. Seven oral and four poster presentations showcased our research in computational plasticity, fatigue and fracture. Orhun Bulut received one of the conference’s two Best Poster Awards. Congratulations to Orhun on this achievement! The conference provided valuable opportunities to discuss our findings, exchange ideas with colleagues and initiate new international collaborations. We thank the organisers, our co-authors and collaborators, and everyone who attended our presentations and poster discussions.

  • Our group member and PhD student Hande Vural attended LWAG 2026: Light-Weight Armour for Defence & Security co-organized by the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency (NDEA) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She gave an oral presentation co-authored with Yunus Emre Özsoy and Tuncay Yalçınkaya, entitled "Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Ballistic Impact Response in Multilayer Metallic Systems Using FE-SPH Analyses with Various Damage Criteria". The event was held from June 2nd to 4th at Oscarsborg Fortress, Norway

  • Our group member Hande Vural has been awarded a scholarship from the COST Action EU-MACE to attend the AccelMAPs Training School. She presented a poster co-authored with Tuncay Yalcinkaya, titled "Deep Learning-Based Phase Segmentation of Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) Maps". The event was held from May 18th to 21st at the Campus Tecnológico e Nuclear of Instituto Superior Técnico in Portugal, Lisbon.

  • MCSM Lab attended to the SIMULIA Türkiye Users Conference hosted by A-Ztech. Prof. Dr. Tuncay Yalcinkaya delivered a keynote talk titled "From Microstructure to Failure: Multiscale Plasticity, Damage, and Fracture Modeling with Abaqus Subroutines".

  • An online workshop, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Tuncay Yalcinkaya and Prof. Dr. Jarosław Jasiński, was held between NOMATEN Research Centre and MCSM Lab to discuss potential collaboration topics under the theme “Simulation and Research of Materials for Extreme Conditions.” The workshop provided an efficient platform to exchange ideas, identify common research interests, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

  • MCSM Lab participated in the 20th International Conference on Strength of Materials, ICSMA 20, held in Kyoto, Japan, with two presentations. Dr. Yalçınkaya delivered an oral presentation titled "Uncoupled Damage Modeling in Flow Forming Processes: An Assesment of Failure Mechanisms," in collaboration with REPKON and co-authored by Hande Vural and Tevfik Ozan Fenercioğlu. Sadık Sefa Açar presented a poster titled "Multi-scale Modeling of Single Crystal Turbine Blade with Orientation Deviations Under Cyclic Operational Loading," co-authored by Orhun Bulut and Tuncay Yalçınkaya.
