The method of repeating stimuli of various intensities with a previously planned rest interval, during which the athlete does not fully regenerate.
The duration of the rest interval is basically calculated by the heart rate method.
Factors Affecting Interval Training
• A specified distance that is repeated a given number of times.
• A recovery period during which the athlete jogs slowly and relaxes
• A predetermined pace, carefully timed, at which the athlete covers the set distance.
• A predetermined number of repetitions in running the distance.
Planning Interval Training
• In planning an interval training session, the following variables need to be considered.
– Length of the work interval
– Intensity of the effort
– Duration of the rest interval
– Number of interval sets
– Number of work repetitions
• 8× 400= A set ×3=set
• The exercise to rest ratio is a vital factor in determining the effects of sprint interval on increases in maximal oxygen consumption or sprint speed. It is possible to increase maximal oxygen consumtion when the rest interval low.
