Ayşen Savaş is currently teaching courses on representation, museology and architectural design at METU (Middle East Technical University), and acting as a designer and advisor to the public and private museums in Turkey, such as the Sabancı Museum in Istanbul, Science and Technology Museum in Ankara, Istanbul Modern, Antalya City Museum, Istanbul Rezan Has Museum and Ankara Inönü Museum. She was an active member of the advisory board of the Istanbul 2010 Cultural Capital of the World Museum Projects.
Education
After completing her masters degreases at METU and Bartlett School of Architecture in London, Savaş received her Ph.D. degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Career
For the last 10 years, Savaş has been publishing extensively on exhibition design, organizing and currating national and international exhibitions. She is the founder of the international design and construction firm: Exhibition Design Workshop (EDW). Working with international clients such as Levis Inc. or Shell Company and displaying their products, EDW has been taking the responsibility of not only the design production but also the actual construction of exhibition environments. She had received many awards including the METU Prize of Academic Excellence (1999 and 2004), The Schlossman Prize (1994), AAUW International Doctoral Fellowship (1993), Fellowships from Sir John Soane's Museum and Canadian Centre for Architecture (1992), AIA, American Institute of Architects Special Prize (1990).
