Achievements

• Received academic performance award (In recognition of academic productivity during the past three academic years), METU in the following years 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
• MSc Thesis supervisor of Çiğdem Beyan, 2010-2011 Academic year METU Best Thesis Award Winner.
• NVIDIA CUDA Research Center Award, 2012 (renewal granted in January 2014).
• Best Thesis Advisor Award, given by Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation for supervising the MSc thesis of Cigdem Beyan, who received the METU Thesis of the year award, 2011.
• Alper Atalay Best Student Paper Award, first place (paper co-written with Cigdem Beyan), 2011.
• NVIDIA CUDA Teaching Center Award, 2010 (renewal granted in October 2013).
• Alper Atalay Best Student Paper Award (for the paper co-written with M.Atas and Y.Yardimci), 2010.
• NVIDIA Professor Partnership Award, 2009.
• ORS (Overseas Research Student) award in 2000. This award is offered by UK Higher Education Council to international postgraduate students with outstanding academic ability and research potential.
• Government (Turkish) scholarship for undergraduate studies between 1994-1999.
• Ranked 84th among 1,164,708 participants in country-wide (Turkey) centralised test for university entrance in 1994.
• Bronze medal in 1st National (Turkish) Science Olympics in software competition organised by the Scientific and Research Council of Turkey (Tubitak), 1993.
