I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Language Education, Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey where I teach undergraduate and graduate courses focusing on language teaching methodology, research methods, speaking skills, sociocultural aspects of language use, and practicum. I also supervise theses and dissertations on a variety of topics related to the field of English Language Teaching.

I received a doctoral degree in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching and a master's degree in English Language and Linguistics (with a focus on TESL/TEFL) from The University of Arizona where I taught English composition courses to American and international students. My undergraduate degree is in English Language Teaching from Middle East Technical University.

 My main academic research interests lie within the domains of language teacher education, intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, technology and ELT, and methodological issues in TEFL/TESL.
