Hakan I. Tarman was born in İzmir,
Turkey. He received the B.Sc. degrees in Mechanical
Engineering and Mathematics,
and the M.Sc. degree in Mechanical
Engineering from Boğaziçi University, İstanbul, Turkey. He received the
Ph.D. degree in Applied
Mathematics from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He is
currently with the Mechanical
Engineering Department,
Middle
East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He is also affiliated
with the Department of
Engineering Sciences
and Interdisciplinary graduate
programs of Biomedical
Engineering (a member of
the Biomechanics
Group since 2006 and Program
Coordinator between 2015-2017)
and
Earth
System Sciences.
His current research interests are
in Computational
Mechanics, and in "fighting to wring
significant facts from an
inflexible Nature
which says distinctly "No"
and so indistinctly "Yes"
to theories" as put
forward so concisely by
Hermann Weyl, Mathematician,
1885-1955.
