Graphene Hall Sensors for Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (SHPM)

We are developing graphene hall sensors for magnetic imaging. We hope to improve the lateral resolution of SHPM down to 10nm using graphene. We are growing graphene with CVD on Cu and Pt substrates.

 

Magnetic Characterisation of Topological Insulators using  Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (SHPM)

We are imaging topological insulators with SHPM as a function of temperature to understand their exotic magnetic behavior.

 

Ultra High Resolution Magnetic Force Microscopes(MFM) with 5nm resolution

We are developing a new low temperature MFM operating in 10mK-300K temperature range for magnetic imaging with ~5nm resolution. We hope to improve the lateral resolution using ultralow noise fiber interferometers with 1fm/Hz noise floor.

 

Non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy in Water (ncAFM)
We are interested in atomic resolution imaging of natural minerals like gypsum in water using ncAFM. We use AQUA ncAFM with 30fm/
Hz noise floor in water for our experiments.

 

ncAFM in UHV (Ultra High Vacuum):

One of our research subjects is non contact AFM/STM in UHV(5x10-11mbar)  environment. Our ncAFM is capable of  measuring lateral forces simultaneously with normal forces. We shall retrofit the ncAFM with new ultralow noise fiber interferometers with 1fm/Hz noise floor.
