Announcements:

15. FINAL EXAM IS SCHEDULED TO BE ON 15, JANUARY, 2010, FRIDAY, AT 16:00. LETS MEET IN THE DEPARTMENT, AND WE WILL HAVE THE EXAM IN THE BEST SPACE AVAILABLE. You probably will not need it, but please bring in a calculator and statistical tables.

14. I won't be able to attend our class tomorrow. If you would like you can work on your own, and don't come to class. Otherwise, you can borrow the key of computer lab from Ozgur before 8:55, since he has a class at 9.

13. Here are some important information that was also emailed to you:

. Final exam is scheduled for 22nd of January at 16:30, which is too late. If everyone accepts, I will try to move it to an earlier date. This way we can start our break earlier, and I won't have to prepare a makeup (one student can't make it on 22nd). We discussed this in class this morning, and 15 January Friday (except btw 13:30-15:30) seems to work for everyone. Those of you who were not in the class this morning, please let me know BEFORE 6, January, 2010 whether this date works for you or not. If you were in class this morning, you don't have to the anyting. Otherwise, send me an email if it works for you AND if it does not work for you.

. Case study 3 part 3 is now a homework. Please return them back by 7, January, 2010, Thursday, 10:30. I know it is a short period of time, and a lot of work. Do your best, and don't forget to work on your finals. This is another exercise of balancing things in life, and multifunctioning. Please have your homework less than 10 pages (front and back) including graphics and tables. This means you should be selective about what you include.

. There is an important meeting at TUIK next Thursday at 10 am. I may need to attend it. If I must, I will cancel the class and announce this on my web page and by sending you an email.

12. Midterm is on 3, December, 2009, Thursday, 17:40, in P-3. Bring in a calculator and statistical tables (just in case you need them). No lecture on the date of exam.

11. Homework 3 and 4 are available.

10. Course slides for the last two weeks are available here: Case Study 1 , Case Study 2 , Discussion of previous studies (Item 3 will be discussed next week).

9. Homework 2 is avaible here .

8. Lab materials are available here: Introduction to GGobi , templete 1 , templete 2 , templete 3.

7. Midterm for this course is arranged to be on 3 December 2009, Thursday, 17:40. Place will be announced later.

6. Here is an introduction to R.

5. Course slides for the lecture on 22nd of October are available here

4. Recitation will be in Computer lab on Friday, 16, October, 2009.

3. Homework 1 is available here

2. Lectures on Thursday morning are moved to the Department of Statistics. We will most probably meet in Z-21. If that is occipied then we will be in Joker.

1. First Meeting:
8, October, 2009, Thursday, 8:40-10:30
That means there is no lecture or recitation during the first week of the courses. I am an invited lecturer at TUIK during that week, so I will, unfortunately, be unavailable during the whole week.
