Hüseyin
Ambarlı studies brown bears (Ursus arctos) in northeastern Turkey. He is currently busy trying to understand the spatial ecology, resource use and
status of a bear population in Yusufeli, Artvin (Turkey) for his Ph.D. He also works for the Kaçkar Project since 2008.
In previous years, he carried out a spatial and temporal analysis of human-brown bear conflicts at Yusufeli and got his M.Sc. in 2006. Below are pictures showing him capture and radio-collar a bear for the first time in Turkey. During this project and the follow-up that involved introduction of new methods on wildlife damage prevention, he received support from Wildlife Conservation Society and Alertis, respectively. |
On September 8th,
Hüseyin has succeeded to
capture, tranquilize and radio collar a wild bear at Yusufeli
(Artvin) - a first for Turkey
